Mitch Watkins Trio

🐘Early Show

At 13 Mitch started playing guitar with a surf band in McAllen, Texas. Years later he's traveling the world on multiple tours with Leonard Cohen. You're gonna want to hear the sounds that have endeared this master guitarist to so many and who Jazz Times Magazine calls "a man for all musical seasons".

Sarah Sharp Quintet

🐘Early Show

“Sarah Sharp's soft-spoken singing style and quiet instrumentations offer a living room, fireside closeness that keeps her away from the lounge-singer stereotypes of similarly jazz-influenced performers." — @nprmusic, All Songs Considered

The Sarah Sharp Quartet performs every Tuesday evening in the basement, featuring John Fremgen, Masumi Jones, Oliver Steck, and Mitch Watkins.

Elias Haslanger Quintet

🐘 9pm

“Elias Haslanger is the real deal, a no-nonsense modernist whose Rollins-esque rhythmatics and Coltrane-tinged harmonics surge and soar.” — @jazztimesmage

Tommy Howard Organ Trio

🐘8pm

The Tommy Howard Organ Trio features Tommy Howard on guitar, Terry Bowness on organ and Tom Brechtlein Gibbs. They play a wide range of material from original compositions to unique arrangements of pop/jazz standards to classic organ repertoire

Michael Mordecai has been hosting his Monday Night Jam since 1980. When the Elephant Room opened in 1991, the JAM found it's permanent home in the basement. Many Austin Jazz greats cut their teeth at this unassuming Monday night hang where "the old pro's and the young lions mix licks". You just never know who might show up or what musical jam moment might spark the next cool collaboration.

Jon Blondell & Friends

🐘Early Show

Fireball front man Jon Blondell gets the jam going early leading his own group—featuring Dr. Jim Rose—for a fun repertoire of songs from all over the musical spectrum brought to the jazz stage as only Blondie can do.

Paul Klemperer Quintet

🐘 9pm

Born in Boston, Paul discovered jazz at an early age, sneaking into smokey clubs by age 13. (Nothing much has changed.) He studied with jazz legends Archie Shepp, Max Roach and Ray Copeland before moving to Austin in 1982 where he has worked with many great artists in the blues, roots and jazz traditions, such as Marcia Ball, Angela Strehli, Doyle Bramhall, Malford Milligan, and members of the Fabulous Thunderbirds. He also produces and perform at the annual Austin Festivus Festival. He and his quintet will be sneaking down to play in the basement at 9pm.
